TRAININGS & FREE EDUCATION
Our coalition offers free trainings for individuals, schools, workplaces, and community groups across Medina County. While many focus on evidence-based suicide prevention, we also provide sessions on other important topics like mental health, recovery, and compulsive gambling—helping participants learn skills, raise awareness, and support well-being in their communities.
Available Trainings:
QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer): Learn to recognize warning signs, ask the suicide question, and connect someone to help.
PAUSE, NOT PUNISHMENT: Provides firearm retailers, shooting ranges, and firearms instructors with practical strategies to recognize signs of crisis, respond with compassion, and encourage voluntary, temporary safety measures, including pauses in firearm access during periods of elevated suicide risk.
CALM (Counseling on Access to Lethal Means): Strategies to reduce access to lethal means for those in crisis.
VA S.A.V.E (Spot, Ask, Validate, Encourage): Recognize warning signs, ask directly, validate feelings, and encourage professional help.
Customized Trainings: Tailored programs on mental health, recovery, and compulsive gambling, designed to enhance awareness and connect to suicide prevention efforts.
