Psychiatric Nurse - LPN

Hours

24 - 40 hours per week 

Position Summary

The Psychiatric Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team comprised of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff who work within the Pharmacologic Management Service line.  The Psychiatric Nurse assesses the client’s behavioral health and medical needs and participates in the development of a clinical care plan.  The Psychiatric Nurse assists clients in understanding and managing their medication regimens and provides education to on a broad range of psychiatric and general medical conditions.  The Psychiatric Nurse may act as an advocate for the clients in care coordination with community-based providers and resources.  The Psychiatric Nurse will utilize clinical skills of assessing and treating behavioral health conditions and assist clients in the recovery process.  The Psychiatric Nurse may provide services in the community, as well as at the agency, in the event a client would benefit from receiving care at an alternative location.

Education

Current LPN licensure in the state of Ohio  

Experience

At least 2 years hospital or community-based behavioral healthcare experience working with clients with mental health and co-occurring conditions preferred.    

Qualifications

Must demonstrate strong nursing skills in assessment and treatment with clients.  General nursing skills shall be used to effectively assess and triage clients’ behavioral health and medical needs.  Will have the ability to respond to medical emergencies that may arise within the agency until community responders arrive.  Able to manage and track many tasks simultaneously as well as demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, patience, organization, and an openness to the individuality of others.  Will have strong oral and writing skills. Knowledgeable of agency and community-based  services and resources and how to apply available resources to meet the needs of consumers.  Able to assess risk and collaboratively formulate Crisis Care Plans and respond to urgent situations.  Must be willing to provide services in the client’s home, as needed.  Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel).  Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state of Ohio and auto insurance.
