Position Summary

The Financial Intake and Benefits Specialist is responsible for assessing the client’s financial resources to match various private and governmental payers for services and completing financial updates to ensure client payer information is current.  The Financial Intake and Benefits Specialist acts as the primary departmental contact with agency clients and coordinates required service authorization, individual and group credentialing with private insurance companies, Medicaid, and managed care. The Financial Intake and Benefits Specialist assists with accounts receivable and agency revenue cycle management activities.
 

Education

High school diploma minimum. Associates degree preferred.
 

Experience

2-3 years experience in a community based behavioral health billing environment directly involved with the client interviews, public benefits, insurance verification, service prior authorization, and individual and group credentialing. Experience in medical billing and coding preferred.
 

Qualifications

Good communication, computer and organizational skills.  Having the ability to calmly interact with clients and staff interpreting information provided in various formats.  Has a working knowledge of various public assistance programs, including Medicaid, Medicare as well as private insurance. Has the ability to apply general accounting and bookkeeping skills.  Generally proficient in Microsoft Office products, mainly Word and Excel.
