Position Summary

The Employment Specialist is responsible for supporting client’s to become confident professionally and personally. The Employment Specialist will assist in job searching and placement for clients. They will establish and maintain positive working relationships with local businesses and public agencies to secure employment opportunities and referral sources for the agency. The Employment Specialist will match the client’s background, barriers, skills, and interest with job openings, and assist in preparing them for interviews and entry into the work force. The Employment Specialist will be available to address client’s concerns during set office hours or for emergent situations should one arise.  The employee will be involved in observing client’s behaviors or actions in relationship to overall functioning and reporting any concerns to the Clinical Director. In the event of an emergency, the Employment Specialist will access, or assist the client in accessing, the appropriate emergency response professionals, i.e., police, ambulance, or psychiatric emergency services employees, as necessary. The employee must be able to respect the diversity/ individuality of others while also having the ability to set and maintain personal/ professional boundaries.  The employee will have the ability to work with people in a professionally caring, respectful and ethical manner, while providing clients with therapeutic behavioral services (TBS), psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR), and case management services.   The employee must possess an Ohio Driver’s license, have access to a car and be willing to transport clients. 


Bachelor’s degree in business, education, rehabilitation counseling, psychology, social work or a vocationally oriented field preferred or High School Diploma and a minimum of three years of experience in a Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment services setting shall be considered.


Minimum of two years experience with the mental health population preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel).


Must have effective oral and written communication skills.  Will possess the ability to work with a diverse group of residents, other Case Management staff, families, and community agencies.  Needs skills to problem solve, be adaptable, flexible and have sound judgment necessary to make decisions in emergency situations.
