Director of Quality and Compliance

Position Summary

The Director of Quality and Compliance oversees all aspects of the agency’s quality and performance improvement efforts, such as developing and administrating the QI Program and facilitating positive change throughout the organization. Responsible for facilitating regulatory and accreditation compliance, critical incident investigations, establishing performance measurement systems, plans of correction, performance improvement plans, and policies and procedures at all levels to ensure agency accreditation and certification and  that performance meets or exceeds established clinical and operations outcomes to the benefits of persons served and other stakeholders.
The Director of Quality and Compliance will lead a multidisciplinary team to administer the operations of the agency’s QI Program. Outcomes measurement, utilization review, peer review/clinical competency, satisfaction surveys, medical necessity record review, and overseeing the agency health and safety program are the key priorities within the position. The Director of Quality and Compliance shall work with the CEO and agency leadership team in overall program assessment and strategic planning. The Director of Quality and Compliance shall be responsible for compiling, writing and presenting monthly, quarterly and annual QI Reports which reflect data collected on agency operations, service trends, critical incidents, clinical outcomes, community and consumer input, and other reports as needed.
The Director of Quality and Compliance works in a fast paced, changing behavioral healthcare environment and  will use technical skills, business acumen and creativity to build tools to automate reporting and generate insight that will guide  the agency to quickly and accurately assess  operational and project processes  related to business and clinical outcomes. The Director of Quality and Compliance  will actively oversee this life cycle from initial requirement analysis, documentation, prototyping, design, and development all the way through to implementation, quality assurance, and user acceptance. The Director of Quality and Compliance will work with internal and external stakeholders to understand their requirements and present analytical results in an easy to understand communication format.


An advanced degree in business, health administration, and/or a clinical healthcare field from an accredited college or university. Professional licensure in the State of Ohio in a clinical discipline related to behavioral healthcare is preferred (e.g., LSW, LPC, LISW, or LPCC).


A minimum of five years of administrative and clinical experience in a behavioral healthcare setting preferably with acute or chronic behavioral health services. Experience with project management, quality improvement initiatives and practices, outcome measurement, Best and Evidenced-Based Practices, OhioMHAS certification, and CARF accreditation standards preferred.


Should possess clinical training which is in turn used to understand the development and implementation of clinical programs within a community behavioral healthcare setting. Must demonstrate skills in program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.   Must have the ability to manage and track numerous  tasks simultaneously, and  be open to the individuality of others. Must possess leadership skills, an ability to lead Change Teams, collect, analyze, and report data, build consensus, and  demonstrate strong oral and writing skills.   Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office; especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Proficient in utilizing electronic medical records systems, and experience with Credible is preferred.
