Crisis Intervention Counselor

Position: Crisis Intervention Counselor – Emergency Department
 
Hours: PRN
 
Position Summary:
 
The Crisis Intervention Counselor provides Crisis Triage, Assessment and Intervention Services within the assigned Emergency Department and conducts Pre-hospitalization screenings and facilitation of admissions. The Crisis Intervention Counselor works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary care team to develop Care Plans reflective of a person’s presenting needs, risks and preferences and oversees service navigation and linkage. Services are provided through the 24/7 Crisis and Behavioral Health Helpline and in-person within the hospital setting.
 
Education:
 
Minimum licensure of LSW or LPC in the state of Ohio, LISW or LPCC is preferred.
 
Experience:
 
1 – 3 years clinical experience in a community, hospital or inpatient behavioral health setting. Experience in providing Triage, Crisis Assessment and Intervention, suicide risk assessments, development of Safety Plans and care coordination is preferred.
 
Qualifications:
 
Must be able to work within a multidisciplinary care team environment and provide crisis services to the general community as well as to consumers with severe and persistent mental illness. Able to provide consultation and guidance to outside resources to ensure appropriate linkages and referrals for individuals in the community. Shall possess leadership qualities to build and manage relationships with community stakeholders and partners. Maintain working knowledge of community services and resources. Able to work with diverse populations and complex situations, multitask, remain flexible, adaptable, and organized. Possess de-escalation skills, knowledge of related Evidence-Based Models, Trauma-Informed Care and suicide assessment tools. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide education to the community through public speaking. Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel). Must have a valid driver’s license.
