Crisis Intervention Counselor (3-11 PM shift)

40 Hours/week (M-F: 3-11 PM)

Position Summary

The Crisis Intervention Services Therapist will provide Crisis Assessment and Intervention Services as defined by the Ohio Department of Mental Health.  Pre-hospitalization screening and facilitation of admissions or discharge plans will be completed once the patient is deemed medically cleared by the attending physician.  The Crisis Intervention Services Therapist shall work collaboratively within the hospital’s multidisciplinary clinical team to assess patient needs and provide consultation/ education to ensure appropriate behavioral health referrals are made.  The foremost goal shall be the development and implementation of plans of care which are consistent with the needs of the patient while also protecting the safety and security of the community.   Provides education to the community about emergency services and crisis intervention. Crisis Intervention Services Therapist will work 3-11pm, primarily stationed at a local community hospital.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or related field.  Must have minimum licensure of LSW or LPC, LISW or LPCC preferred. 

Experience

3-5 years clinical work experience in a community or inpatient behavioral health setting.  Experience in risk assessment, crisis intervention services, and AOD assessment preferred.

Qualifications

Must be able to work within a multidisciplinary clinical team to provide crisis services to the general community as well as to consumers with severe and persistent mental illness.  Needs to have the ability to develop and implement plans of care constant with the needs of the consumer while protecting the safety and security of the community.  Able to provide consultation and guidance to outside resources to ensure appropriate linkages and referrals for individuals in the community.  Shall posses leadership qualities to build and manage relationships with community agencies, mental health boards, physicians, hospitals, law enforcement, and consumer advocacy groups    Maintains working knowledge of treatment options in the community.  Able to work with diverse and complex situations, able to multitask, be flexible, adaptable, organized, and effective in planning skills.  Must have good oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide education to the community through public speaking.  Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel). Must have a valid driver’s license.
